Tips for getting your avatar under 6KB....
In GIMP after resizing go:
- image > mode > indexed...
- click generate optimum palette and set to 256.
- make sure you export as jpeg.
- uncheck "save xmp data" and "save save IPTC data" (not sure if this make a huge difference).
- still too big then play with the quality slider.
Happy compressions!
EDIT: This should probably be moved to some kind of Help section or the FAQ's
